“The Pope always talks about migration problems all around the world, of the duties we have to solve these problems in a humane manner, of hosting those who come from other countries in search of a life of dignity and peace,” Rev. Federico Lombardi said.
The Pope has made no secret of how he feels about those with more helping those with less.
And, Donald Trump says with all due respect “I think he (the Pope) doesn’t understand the problems that our country has. I don’t think he understands the danger of the open border that we have with Mexico. I think Mexico got him to do it because they want to keep the border just the way it is. They’re making a fortune and we’re losing.”
Our American Culture says Trump may be right on immigration– but not only for his stated reasons.
The United States has been dealing with illegal immigration for decades – or should we say not dealing with it. The reality is the Federal Government has opened the flood gates and tries to open them further. With no Federal plan – individual States are picking up the slack straining social services, school districts and State, County and City budgets (see story below). Both sides of the aisle are equally responsible for this transgression against the American people.
The reality is this – no matter how many immigrants we take in, the United States cannot help the world’s population by taking in more immigrants. There are too many and we will go broke doing it. We will also harm our economy, make or streets unsafe and change or culture in a negative way.
And, unfettered immigration will also rob other countries of their best and brightest. It been that way for many, many decades and the reality is, that brain power is needed to solve problems elsewhere.
Curtailing immigration, both illegal and legal, will be a good first step in protecting our American culture, but also keep the “change makers” around the world in their respective countries to help improve conditions everywhere.
